Batch Wins, Waits On Roster Cuts
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Steelers backup quarterback Charlie Batch is playing the waiting game as his coaches collaborate on final roster cuts this weekend, but is he playing it for the last time, at least in the foreseeable future?
The 37-year-old Homestead native is trying to make it to a 12th NFL season and eighth with the Black and Gold, but there is growing speculation he will be cut in favor of fellow reserves Byron Leftwich and free agent Jerrod Johnson.
If Thursday was his last game in a Steeler uniform, Batch went out with a bang. He connected on 11 of 14 passes for 103 yards, including an early 37-yard scoring strike to Emmanuel Sanders, and ended with an efficiency rating over 120, then addressed the media after Pittsburgh's 17-16 win over the visiting Carolina Panthers in the preseason finale:

Batch, in seven seasons with the Steelers, has thrown for 11 TD's, eight picks, and 1,594 yards, going 5-2 as a starter in 31 official games played.
