Back To Business For NFL
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- After months of talks and dead ends, the NFL lockout has finally ended.
The NFLPA approved a 10-year deal with owners on Monday.
Now, it's back to business.
The teams are now going to be forced to come up with a roster of 90 players.
Steelers President Art Rooney II talked about the timeline.
"The good news is that players can start to come into our facilities tomorrow. Also, tomorrow we're permitted to start to begin to negotiate player contracts.
"Our players will report to Saint Vincent on Thursday and the first practice open to the public will be Friday afternoon and the first practice in pads will be Sunday afternoon," he said.
The Steelers are one of eight teams over the salary cap of $123 million. They are $10 million over.
KDKA-TV Sports spoke exclusively to DL Chris Hoke, one of the Steelers' unrestricted free agents.
"It's going to be crazy," he said. "I'm one of those intense personality kind of guys so I got to make sure I stay calm and let my agent do the work and really rely on my family, my faith and go with that."
"I think I have a good relationship here with the coaching staff, the ownership and the city of Pittsburgh," Hoke continued. "So, you never want to say, 'It might not happen,' but you know, there's always a chance it might not happen, but I feel that I'm a good fit here."
