Attorney For Local Woman Accusing Cosby Of Sexual Abuse Hopes Charges Will Help Their Case
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- For more than a year now, Renita Hill of Baldwin has been on the list of 29 women who claim Bill Cosby sexually abused them.
Hill's claims sound very similar to the accusations made in Wednesday's criminal case, that Cosby used spiked drinks to allegedly seduce his victims.
Hill's attorney George Kontos says those similar accusations will help their case.
"Conceivably, some of the witnesses and information that might come forth in that matter could impact the civil case that we have," Kontos said.
Hill says the promise of bright lights and fame is where she thought she was headed, and so did everyone who knew her.
She granted an exclusive interview with KDKA-TV last November. Now she is headed to court. She claims the man she hoped would make her a star instead made her a victim of sexual abuse after spiking her drinks.
But the 78-year-old Cosby calls her a liar and wants Hill's case dismissed.
"He claims that the statements that he made against my client are opinions and that they are constitutionally protected," Kontos said.
Cosby has also filed lawsuits against seven of the dozens of women who have come forward claiming they too were sexually assaulted by him.
"He has not done so with respect to Renita," Kontos said. "It is conceivable that he will, it's just that our case is not as far along, so that would not be a big surprise."
Hill was a 16-year-old high school student when she says she met Cosby. She wanted to become an actress. She says she met the comedian during one of his many visits to Pittsburgh after getting a call from her modeling agency.
But she claims the man she called her mentor and who paid for part of her college education sexually abused her by drugging her drinks.
"He would fly me to a number of cities, he would be busy during the day, but then he would always have me come to his hotel room at night," said Hill in 2014. "It's just that I always thought it was odd that after I had this drink, I would end up in my bed the next day, and I wouldn't remember anything."

Hill has filed a civil suit against Cosby.
"We have actually three separate claims, one is for defamation, one is for something called false light and the other is intentional affliction of emotional distress," Kontos said. "And a jury would be submitted all of the evidence, and at the end of the case then they would make a determination as to a monetary figure that would compensate the plaintiff for her claims."
Hill's attorney says they don't have a court date yet. They only filed the response on Tuesday to Cosby's motion to dismiss their case.
