Officer, 2 Others Injured In Crash Involving Police Cruiser
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Pittsburgh police officer, along with a mother and her young child, are recovering from minor injuries after the cruiser collided with her vehicle and two parked cars.
The crash, which was the second of two separate incidents and two different investigations, happened at the corner of Lincoln Avenue of Meadow Street.
It involved a police cruiser and three civilian vehicles.
The patrolman was responding to another officer's call for help at a narcotics bust a few blocks away, at corner of Shetland Street and Lowell Street in same neighborhood when the accident happened.
Lt. Richard Pritchard told KDKA's Kym Gable that the narcotics officers needed assistance with crowd control.
Police took one person into custody during the drug investigation.
One moving vehicle and two parked cars were involved in the crash as the other vehicle, the cruiser, was responding to the other call. The crash left debris all over the road.
Three people were hospitalized.
"The officer received minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital just as a precautionary method, and the other driver and her young son were taken to West Penn with abrasions and contusions," said Lt. Pritchard, of Pittsburgh Police.
The incidents remain under investigation.
