At Least 1 Hospitalized In Bessemer Crash

BESSEMER, Pa. (KDKA) -- Pennsylvania and Ohio state police are investigating after at least one person was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash in Lawrence County.

State police say a van carrying seven people was hit by another vehicle.

The accident happened before 9 p.m. at the intersection of West Poland Avenue and Main Street in Bessemer, Pa.

A state trooper at the scene said the driver of one of the vehicles allegedly ran a stop sign.

One person was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio.

There's no word on that person's condition.

Troopers say two children and a baby were among the passengers inside the van.

According to officials at the scene, the driver of the vehicle that struck the van was given a field sobriety test and taken into custody.

Both Pennsylvania and Ohio state police were called to the scene because the accident happened near the border of Ohio.
