Vehicle Set On Fire In Lincoln-Lemington After Alleged Carjacking
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A vehicle believed to have been stolen during a carjacking was set on fire in Lincoln-Lemington late Wednesday night.
According to police, the carjacking happened along East Gate Drive in Penn Hills around 11:30 p.m.
The suspect jumped in front of a Jeep Patriot being driven by a 24-year-old man. An 11-year-old boy was also in the vehicle.
The suspect was yelling for help and the vehicle stopped. At that time, the suspect pulled out a pistol and ordered the two occupants out of the vehicle.
While driving away, the suspect threw the victim's cell phone out of the window. The victim was able to find the phone and call police about 15 minutes later.
During that time, the suspect had driven to the Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood in Pittsburgh and set the vehicle on fire.
According to police, the vehicle was found on Saxon Way.
Police initially responded to the area after receiving a Shot Spotter notification in the 6400-block of Deary Street.
While firefighters were extinguishing the flames, police learned the vehicle had been stolen.
No arrests have been made at this time.
