Arrest Made In Wexford Office Complex Burglary

WEXFORD (KDKA) - Police have made an arrest in a December burglary at a Wexford office complex.

According to police, the suspect was caught red-handed and may be the man behind other burglaries in Allegheny County.

What tipped off Northern Regional Police to this suspect they were looking for was the getaway car parked in the parking lot.

The vehicle was possibly used in several other business burglaries in the area as well.

According to police, Timothy Barnett, of the North Side, was allegedly spending his time on the weekends breaking into office buildings around Allegheny County.

However, last month, Northern Regional Police finally caught up with him at an office building on VIP Road in Wexford.

"A silent alarm had gone off. Our officers arrived on scene and observed an individual moving around inside the office complex," Chief Bob Amann said.

Police caught him before he could take anything, but they said the car he was driving led them to believe he was involved in other office burglaries.

"When my officers responded to that alarm call, that car was parked behind that office building," Chief Amann said.

Chief Amann said surveillance video from a break-in in Ohio Township showed the car and that video was shared on a police network.

It didn't take long before several departments in Allegheny County came forward with similar break-ins in their areas.

According to Northern Regional Police, Barnett is a suspect in burglaries in Robinson Township, Moon, McCandless, Ohio Township and possibly other areas as well.

However, additional charges have not been filed yet.

Police said Barnett had stolen property on him, possibly from a burglary in McCandless.

He has been charged with three counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary.
