Arrest Made In Fineview Fatal Stabbing
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing death of his girlfriend's son in Fineview.
According to police, the incident happened in the 1700-block of Belleau Drive around 5:45 a.m. Sunday. The victim was stabbed during an altercation.
According to the criminal complaint, 43-year-old Michael Monroe stabbed 22-year-old Dereck Frye inside his mother's home.
Dana Bouler said she has dated Monroe for eight months and within the past three months, he began physically assaulting her.
In one instance, Bouler said Monroe kicked her, stomped on her leg, threw her to the ground and burned her abdomen with a cigarette.
According to the criminal complaint, on Saturday night, Monroe told Bouler he was going out to do "jitney trips."
When Monroe arrived home early Sunday morning he told Bouler it was over and packed his belongings. She claims he began to choke her and then walked away.
He left the bedroom and returned a few minutes later holding a butcher knife that was covered in blood.
The criminal complaint says Monroe told Bouler "You're next [expletive]."
She jumped off the bed and plowed past Monroe to the front door. That's when she saw her son, Frye, leaning up against a door unresponsive.
Michael Monroe was arrested Sunday afternoon after a traffic stop. He faces charges of criminal homicide and assault.
