Armored Truck Heist Suspect On FBI's Most Wanted List
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The armored truck guard accused of killing his partner and getting away with more than $2 million is now one of the FBI's Most Wanted.
Kenneth John Konias, Jr., 22, of Dravosburg, has been on the run since last week when the body of 31-year-old Michael Haines was found in the back of a GARDA truck in the Strip District under the 31st Street Bridge.
Fliers with Konias' picture are posted all over his neighborhood.
"The biggest message is that we want the public to know that … we want him - the best thing he can do is to turn himself in," FBI Agent Rob Amborsini said. "That's the best thing he can do for himself and for his family right now."
Amborsini says that Konis has demonstrated that he's a violent individual.
"He demonstrated that he acted perhaps on an impulse – that's why we want him," he said.
The FBI says it's turning up the heat locally and across the country. Konias may not be in the area anymore, but seeing his face, car and the knowing threat of danger could get the response they are looking for.
"This is the type of information that the public is really good at responding with," Amborsini said. "They see his vehicle, 2006 tan Ford Explorer, they see a person matching his description and because we believe he may have traveled outside of state lines, we wanted to establish that 800-number (1-800-CALL-FBI)."
