Humane Officials Offering Reward For Information In Puppy's Death

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- The Western Pennsylvania Humane Society is looking for several people that may have dumped a sick puppy outside of a local convenience store.

On Friday, a female toy-sized terrier mix was found by employees of the 7/11 convenience store in the 1000-block of Western Avenue on the North Side.

Police were called to the parking lot to provide assistance to the dog who sustained life-threatening injuries. The dog was rushed to the Humane Society where veterinarians determined it was suffering and had to be euthanized.

The dog was found wrapped in an orange and pink flowered blanket on a stack of milk crates beside the dumpster at the 7/11.

A new photo released from the 7/11 shows that the dog appeared to still be alert at the time several people entered the store.

A woman has come forward saying she spoke to the group of individuals holding the dog, including the woman seen in this new photo.

When the group heard the Western Pa. Humane Society was closed, she offered to take the dog to another nearby veterinarian. When she went to get her car, the group had left.

If you have information about this dog, or the people seen in the surveillance pictures, please contact the Humane Society's Investigations Unit at 412-321-4625, ext. 216.  Or you can email investigations@wpahumane.org.  All tips will remain anonymous and there is a reward for information leading to an arrest.
