Analyst Previews Pitt Panthers At NFL Combine
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Jim Wexell, of SteelCityInsiders.net, joined the FAN Morning Show from Indianapolis at the NFL Scouting Combine.
The Pitt Panthers have six former players participating at the Combine. Wexell spoke with several scouts and talent evaluators who expect wide receiver Jon Baldwin to go in the first round despite his laziness during games and in practice.
Wexell projects that Jabaal Sheard will go before Greg Romeus in the draft. That's because Sheard is strictly a 4-3 defensive end. Wexell expects Dion Lewis to be a sleeper running back and Jason Pinkston to go in the second or third round.
On Thursday, the NFL teams met with players from the offensive line, tight end and the kicking groups.
Wexell was able to speak with those players after the meetings and it appears to him that the Steelers are focusing their sights on guards more than tackles.
Wexell said this year is a good class of cornerbacks and the Steelers will have opportunities to draft a couple of good corners.
