Analyst: Fleury Is Best Goalie For Pens
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Versus hockey analyst Billy Jaffe joined the Fan Morning Show to talk all things hockey.
Jaffe said Tuesday night's clash between the Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers showcased two of the best teams in the NHL right now. He also considers the Detroit Red Wings one of the league's better teams.
The hockey analyst also discussed another of the Pens rivals, the Washington Capitals. He says the Caps' "identity is scoring goals," and when the puck isn't going in the net, they don't have that "backbone" to fall back on.
There was also discussion about the upcoming Winter Classic featuring the Penguins and Capitals at Heinz Field on Jan. 1.
Jaffe talked about HBO's special, "24/7 Penguins/Capitals: Road to the NHL Winter Classic." There are reports that the Capitals are somewhat bothered by the cameras and the spotlight. However, Jaffe says he doesn't think that is true.
Penguins goalie, Marc-Andre Fleury, also came up during the discussion.
Jaffe commented, "you need the best goalie for your team," and he thinks that applies to Fleury and the Pens. He doesn't think if the Penguins brought in a technically better goalie the team wouldn't get better results.
