'America's Most Wanted' To Feature Armored Truck Murder, Heist

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Authorities are taking their search for an armored truck guard accused of killing his partner and stealing more than $2 million to a national audience.

The case of Kenneth Konias, Jr., will be featured on "America's Most Wanted" at 9 p.m. today on Lifetime.

Last month, Konias, a GARDA employee, allegedly shot his partner, Michael Haines, in the back of the head.

Haines' body was found in the back of the armored truck under the 31st Street Bridge in the Strip District.

"The longer it goes, the more likely that it is that he may not be just in this area, that he may be visiting - coming in, coming out - but someone should recognize him," said Bill Crowley, of the FBI.

KDKA's Paul Martino reports:

Two Pittsburgh police detectives, Peg Sherwood and J.R. Smith, FBI Special Agent Scott Argiro and Ross Police Detective Brian Kohlhepp will be on the show talking about the case.

In addition to appearing on "America's Most Wanted," authorities have Konias' picture featured on electronic billboards along the East Coast.

The FBI has also turned to social networking websites in efforts to get the word out.

Last week, a portion of the $2 million was found at the grave of Konias' great grandmother in Munhall. Some of the money was also found in his parents' basement in Dravosburg.

"This is a priority case for both the City of Pittsburgh as well as they FBI here in Pittsburgh, and we're not going to stop," Crowley added. "We're going to go after this guy; we're going to find him and we're going to bring him to justice."

KDKA's Harold Hayes reports:
