Allison Park Man Sentenced To 3-6 Years For Deadly Accident
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man from Allison Park faced sentencing today in connection with a 2011 accident that claimed the life of a local man.
Family and friends of victim, Mark Trimmer, including members of the sports teams he coached, packed the courtroom Thursday morning.
The judge sentenced Aaron Stevens to three to six years behind bars. Stevens was previously found guilty of homicide by vehicle.
Authorities say he was under the influence when he hit and killed Trimmer on Route 28 near the 31st Street Bridge back in June of 2011.
Trimmer's wife says she's upset with the sentence.
"I'm stuck living bare minimum and poverty-stricken, and he goes home to his family and mother in three years and can continue to work; but I will be at every, every court hearing from this point on," said Colleen Trimmer, the victim's wife.
The only consolation she says she has is looking at the children her husband coached.
"Then I know his legacy lives on, but I can see these children and these boys and know that they're gonna grow up to be very good wholesome men that will give back to the community and that they will have families and children and they will be productive members of society," she said.
In addition to the prison sentence, Stevens faces five years of probation when he is released.
