Allegheny Co. Coronavirus Cases Top 4,000 As Health Dept. Reports 230 New Cases
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Allegheny County Health Department is reporting 230 new Coronavirus cases Wednesday, and two additional deaths.
This is the third straight day the county has reported more than 200 cases.
The county-wide total now stands at 4,209 since March 14. There are 4,028 confirmed cases and 181 probable cases.
Officials report that 431 patients have been or are presently hospitalized among all cases, that's eight more patients hospitalized since Tuesday's report. Of the hospitalized patients, 164 of them have needed care in the ICU, and 78 of them have required treatment with a ventilator.
In the newest cases, the health department says patient ages range from 7-months to 96-years-old with the median age being 29. Positive results are from tests that span June 23 through July 5.
The death toll has risen to 196, with 184 confirmed deaths and 12 are probable. A probable death is when a person had not had a positive test for COVID-19.
All deaths are of patients ranging in age from 23-103, with 84 being the median age of those who have died. The dates of death for the two most recent deaths reported are June 26 and July 5.

The Health Department says 52% of all Coronavirus patients are female, and 48% of them are male.
The highest number of cases remains in the 25-49 age bracket at 39%. The 65 and older age group has 19% of COVID-19 cases, and the 50-64 age group also has 19%.

- 00-04 – 38 (1%)
- 05-12 – 56 (1%)
- 13-18 – 105 (2%)
- 19-24 – 756 (18%)
- 25-49 – 1,641 (39%)
- 50-64 – 800 (19%)
- 65 + -- 813 (19%)
Health officials say 69,902 individuals have been tested for COVID-19 across the county.
