Alleged Drunk Driver Hits Bicyclist In Oakland
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A bicyclist was taken to the hospital after he was hit by a man police say was driving under the influence.
It happened just after 8 a.m. near Schenley Drive and the Schenley Drive Extension in Oakland Friday morning.
Police say a 31-year-old bicyclist was hit by 24-year-old Ryan Patrick Fisher of New Kensington, while he was driving.
Fisher told police the sun was in his eyes and he could see the bicyclist, but stopped when the bicycle hit and broke his windshield.
Police say Fisher appeared to be swaying and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. They also say he had a difficult time finding his registration and paperwork when asked for it.
Fisher was then given a field sobriety test and taken into police custody.
He faces a DUI charge.
The bicyclist was also taken to the hospital with knee and back injuries.
