Aliquippa Residents Continue To Clean Up After Flood

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) - Friday's severe weather damaged parts of Beaver County.

Aliquippa was inundated with high waters, many streets were impassable and some businesses were forced to close.

Cleanup efforts continued on Monday and volunteers are taking turns to rid the city of debris.

It has been three days since the storms hit and Aliquippa Public Works crews are still removing mud, muck and debris.

Along Franklin Avenue, businesses continue to work to repair the damage.

Along Wade Street Alley a mock tourist attraction sign reads, "Welcome to Aliquippa Grand Canyon."

It was a road, but the water left a path of destruction in its wake.

There are no damage estimates for this latest flood, but state and federal money will likely be needed because Aliquippa has little of its own.

That is little consolation for flood weary and frustrated residents.

Everybody wants to know how to prevent this from happening again.

Aliquippa officials said this flood was caused by too much water, too quickly with an already antiquated system.
