After One-Year Hiatus, Pitt Football To Hold Spring Game In 2015
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Former Pitt head coach Paul Chryst decided not to hold a spring game in 2014, but new head coach Pat Narduzzi decided to bring back the preseason tradition.
It was announced on Monday that the Pitt team would hold their 2015 Blue-Gold Spring Game at the Highmark Stadium due to a construction project going on at Heinz Field.
In a statement released through the university, Narduzzi said "We want our Blue-Gold Game to be an exciting culmination of a productive spring for our football program. With our Heinz Field home under construction, we are excited to keep the game in the city and would like to thank the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and team president Richard Nightingale for hosting us. We have some fun things in store for the team and fans that afternoon and we'll look forward to revealing those details in the near future."
Pitt will open its first set of spring drills this Sunday, March 15 and will have 15 total practices including the spring game.
The game will be played on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m.
