A Taste Of London In Pittsburgh

The changing of the guard, the crown jewels, the Globe theater and Buckingham Palace; they're all things that make you think of London. But you don't have to spend thousands of dollars on a hotel and air fare to get a taste of British culture. There are a few spots around town that offer a taste of Great Britain right here at home.

While it may seem routine to us, the Gateway Clipper is actually a taste of London right here in Pittsburgh. The old British clipper ships used to transport tea in the transatlantic trade between England and America during the 19th century. While the Gateway Clipper isn't used for shipping, it is a great way to see the sites from the water.

Old Duquesne Brewery Clock

Pittsburgh's South Side

Located on the South Side above the old Duquesne Brewery, this clock is Pittsburgh's version of Big Ben. The face of the clock can be seen more than a mile away, making it a prime advertising location. Locals know it as a classic South Side landmark.
