7 Year Marijuana Carriers Sentenced to Prison
Two brothers from Moon Township have been sentenced to long federal prison terms for leading an organization that brought marijuana across the country through Illinois and along Interstate 80 to Pennsylvania, to be sold.
A federal judge in Rock Island, Ill. sentenced 26-year-old Noah Landfried yesterday to life in prison, and his brother, 28-year-old Ross Landfried III, to 20 years. Federal prosecutors in Illinois say the brothers used couriers in privately owned cars to move more than 5,000 pounds of Mexican marijuana from Arizona to Pennsylvania from 2002 to 2009. Each courier carried about 200 pounds of the drug.
The brothers had pleaded guilty in March.
