7-Eleven Robber Leaves Wallet Behind
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man who robbed a Pittsburgh convenience store made it easier for detectives investigating the crime.
The suspect left his wallet behind when he walked out of the store.
Police are looking for 37-year-old Walter Gunter in connection with a July robbery at the 7-Eleven on Western Avenue just down the block from Pittsburgh Police headquarters.
Pittsburgh Police Lt. Kevin Kraus told KDKA-TV that Gunter came in the store, walked up to the counter, and asked to buy a box of Newport cigarettes.
"The clerk handed him the cigarettes at which time Mr. Gunter passed him a note threatening to shoot the clerk and demanding money from the cash register," Kraus said.
No weapon was displayed during the stickup, which netted Gunter about $200. The suspect fled the store with the cigarettes and the money, but he left behind his wallet, containing his state identification and prison ID card.
Gunter's last known address was Bedford Avenue in the Hill District.
The Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers number is 412-255-8477. Information leading to an arrest could be worth up to $1,000.
