5-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Route 28
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An accident on Route 28 closed the road in both directions for about an hour Monday afternoon.
According to emergency dispatchers, a five-vehicle accident happened near the Heinz Plant shortly before 1 p.m.
One of the vehicles involved was a truck carrying propane tanks. However, the tanks were not compromised in the accident.
Seven people were injured in the crash, but the extent of their injuries is unknown.
A detour has been set up to take vehicles south across the 40th Street Bridge.
PennDOT said motorists can expect significant delays in the area.
