5 Reasons Pittsburgh Could Support An NBA Team

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh and an NBA franchise is something that gets brought up quite frequently.

But could the steel city support four teams?

These are the 5 reasons we think an NBA franchise makes sense.

5. Support Of Local College Teams

Pitt made the move to the power conference known as the ACC last year, so there is a lot of basketball love already in town. Look at the attendance for Pitt games, even Duquesne and Robert Morris programs generate big crowds when they're successful.

4. City Of Champions

Pittsburgh is known as the city of champions for a reason. We like to win, and have done so many times in the past. Bring a well-known NBA franchise to town, and it could mean good things for a city that is so good at winning.

3. Black And Gold

We need another team to wear the Black and Gold. Pittsburgh is the only city in the nation where all professional teams share the same colors. And we can always use another reason to wave a terrible towel.

2. Venue In Place

CONSOL Energy Center holds some 18,000 people. It would make perfect sense for an NBA team. The NCAA basketball tournament has been held there, so it's proven that it's great for a hockey, and basketball venue.

1. Rivalries Already Exist

Hello Cleveland and Philadelphia. We already can't stand most things Cleveland, add another sport to the list and we're game. Not to mention how much we hate the Flyers already. Add in some heated past rivalries with Boston, and it's over.

What do you think? Could Pittsburgh support and NBA team? Comment below and let us know.
