5-Alarm Fire Damages South Side Warehouse
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause of a five-alarm fire that broke out late Wednesday night at a warehouse on Pittsburgh's South Side.
The blaze broke out around 9:30 p.m. at the Emerald Art Glass building along the 2300-block of Josephine Street and smoke could be seen for miles.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control around 11 p.m. But major damage was done to the building.
The business makes custom glass installations and stained glass. No one was inside at the time of the fire.
The business was started 30 years ago by Bob and Kim Zielinski, according to their daughter, who also works in the plant.
She says it was very emotional for them watching the fire, but they're glad no one was hurt.
"It's just a building, everything can be fixed. They are happy no one was inside, everybody's okay," said Schriver. "We'll get it fixed up and running again."
The damage estimate is still being assessed.
