4 Receive Community Service, Fines For Trick-Or-Treating Brawl
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Four people are now facing fines and community service for a fight on Halloween.
The brawl broke out during trick-or-treating in West View and a 17-year-old ended up in the hospital.
The police were called and five people were eventually cited with disorderly conduct - two adults and three minors.
One of those minors was 17-year-old Marshayla Blackburn.
She says she was trick-or-treating with her siblings when she was attacked by a girl from school.
Blackburn said that girl's aunt and her son both jumped in and beat her to the point where she was taken to Allegheny General Hospital to be treated.
"I suffered a concussion and sometimes I get really bad headaches or sometimes I'll sleep for a whole day because I just can't take those headaches," Blackburn said.
Blackburn, her younger sister, and the other three involved in the fight were all cited.
Today, a district judge ordered Blackburn to perform 10 hours of community service and the charge against her sister was dropped.
As for the other three, a 16-year-old girl said she has to complete 35 hours of community service.
Both adults were found guilty of disorderly conduct.
They did not want to comment on camera, but said this was a case of school bullying that got out of hand.
Blackburn's mother said there was a lot more to it.
"I felt that they should have got racial intimidation charges and they didn't. They just got community service," Larita Turner said.
Blackburn agreed with her mom that this was a case of racism.
Despite being disappointed by the judge's decision, Blackburn's mother is happy it's over.
"I'm glad that this is over and me and my daughters can move on and I continue to teach positivity in my household, love, respect. I don't believe in violence," Turner said.
