4 Penn State Football Players Cited In Egg-Throwing Incident
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Four Penn State football players were cited after what officials call an egg-throwing incident at a campus building the night before Halloween.
Team officials confirmed Saturday that center Wendy Laurent, defensive end Garrett Sickels, tight end Brent Wilkerson and reserve safety Anthony Smith were involved in Thursday night's incident at Beaver Hall.
According to Centre County court records, all were issued non-traffic criminal mischief citations.
Coach James Franklin said after Saturday's game against Maryland that the situation would be addressed with the administration, the players and their families.
He said egg-throwing was "far down the totem pole" among the problems in college athletics, but "It still needs to be fixed. I can guarantee it will be."
On Saturday, Laurent started, Wilkerson had some playing time at fullback and Sickels had a sack.
