4 Arrested After Leading Police On Chase From Carnegie To Washington Co.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Four people were arrested in Washington County, after leading police on a chase starting in Carnegie.
Police say it started with a routine traffic stop around 2:20 a.m. near the Carnegie Towers.
However, police say the driver took off and officers noticed the people inside the car throwing items out of the windows. Police say those items were bags of heroin and a gun.
"My officer saw what he believed was a gun and drugs being thrown out of the window, and indeed it was. It was recovered by Scott Township and Heidelberg Police," said Chief Jeffrey Kennedy, of Carnegie Police.
The gun was a .38 revolver, authorities said.
Police say they also found $515 in cash and 99 stamped bags of heroin, marked "Jungle Killer," with a street value of about $1,000 in the vehicle.
The chase from Carnegie Towers lasted 24 miles and included Allegheny and Washington counties.
The driver continued on Route 50, getting off at 79 and then going into South Fayette Township and then Cecil where it was all over.
That's when they were stopped by a strip in the roadway.
"When they went into Cecil, Pa., Cecil set up a spike strip and the vehicle stopped and all four occupants were arrested," Chief Kennedy said.
Police arrested 19-year-old Rika Wiley of Pittsburgh, 19-year-old Taije Davis of Braddock, 21-year-old Lamont Ford of Pittsburgh and 18-year-old Jermaine Dehonny of Turtle Creek.
The four are now being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
