Suspect, Girlfriend Facing Charges After Ambridge Bank Robbery

AMBRIDGE (KDKA) -- A man is in custody and his girlfriend will likely also face charges after a bank robbery Friday afternoon in Beaver County.

Paul William Carman, 36, was arrested in Ambridge less than 45 minutes after police say he robbed the Huntington Bank on Merchant Street.

Carman says he's homeless.

Patrolman Zadock Dismuke said this marks the second time in recent years that Carman has been charged with robbing the Huntington Bank.

KDKA's Ralph Iannotti Reports:

When he was arrested Friday afternoon, he was on parole stemming from the earlier heist.

Dismuke said several thousand dollars was taken in the most recent incident.

He says most of the loot has been recovered, except "for a few hundred dollars that Carman paid to a drug dealer."

No one was hurt in Friday's robbery.

Carman's girlfriend, who was with him before and after the holdup, is also expected to face charges.

A man and his son who drove the couple from the scene of the crime won't be charged because they didn't realize what had happened.

KDKA's Bob Allen Reports:
