3 Charged In Mercer County Church Break-In
PERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Three people are facing charges following a late-night break-in at a Mercer County church, and state police say they've linked the trio to at least three other burglary incidents.
Police say they arrested 27-year-old Trevor Bromley and 25-year-old Kayla Davis, both of Greenville, and 20-year-old Daniel Griggs of Hartstown after the Oct. 30 break-in at Clarks Mills United Methodist Church on Hadley Road in Perry Township.
They are all facing burglary, theft and criminal mischief charges.
According to investigators, police were first called to the church by someone who spotted the glare of flashlights inside around 1 a.m.
Police say Bromley and Griggs tried to escape, first through a door, and then broke a window with a crow bar and jumped one-story to the ground below and took off.
Griggs was arrested after a foot pursuit with police; and while Bromley managed to get away initially, state police say he was taken into custody later that same day.
Officers found Davis waiting inside the suspects' vehicle in a nearby parking lot. State police say she "admitted that she had driven the [suspects] to the church and was waiting to pick them up."
Police say a large amount of damage was discovered inside the church, and Griggs and Bromley had also dropped several items inside while trying to get away.
The three were arraigned and taken to the Mercer County Jail.
State police say they plan to file charges against them in connection with at least three other church burglaries.
