2nd Suspect Arrested In Connection With Fatal East Busway Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A second arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting along the East Busway earlier this month.
According to police, 20-year-old Desmond Young was arrested at Pittsburgh Police headquarters Tuesday night.
According to police, the lead detective on the case worked with Young's family who convinced him to be interviewed by police.
Following the interview, Young was arrested and transported to the Allegheny County Jail. He is now facing a list of charges including criminal homicide, robbery and criminal conspiracy.
According to police, the body of 21-year-old Omar Islam was found lying in an East Busway shelter at the North Homewood stop on Oct. 8.
Police said he'd been robbed and shot to death.
Police reviewed surveillance video and saw three-men, one acting as a lookout, the other two were pushing Omar, robbing him – and opening fire.
Police arrested 16-year-old Jordan Bey in connection with the incident last week.
A third suspect is still on the loose at this time.
