2 Winning Powerball Tickets Sold In Allegheny County
DUQUESNE (KDKA) -- While the ticket worth $95 million dollars in Wednesday's Powerball drawing was sold in Arizona, this area had two winning tickets as well.
Two tickets worth $200,000 each were sold at stores only miles apart.
One was sold at Puff Discount Tobacco in Braddock Hills – the other at the 7-Eleven in Duquesne.
Both players matched the five white balls, 05-10-11-12-20, but neither got the red Powerball 02.
"I was joking around with him, 'Yeah this is going to be the winner 'cause I printed it!'" said Aleecia Kitonis, who works at the 7-Eleven store and thinks she knows who bought the winning ticket there.
She says he's a regular customer who came in to tell her boss that he had won earlier today.
"He wanted to win so he could have a nice Christmas," she said.
The owner of each store will get $500 for selling winning tickets, and while the tickets are worth $200,000, the federal government gets 25 percent in taxes.
