2 Suspected DUI Incidents End In Crashes
Police are investigating two separate overnight incidents in which suspected drunk drivers crashed their vehicles and then tried to elude authorities.
According to Allegheny County 911, a police chase began around 2 a.m. on the Parkway East in Forest Hills when they noticed a driver was operating his vehicle erratically and repeatedly swerving across the center line.
Suspecting that the driver might be intoxicated, police began a pursuit that ended when the car crashed into a garage along Ardmore Boulevard in North Braddock.
The unidentified driver, who is expected to face a number of charges, was taken to Mercy Hospital.
About an hour and a half before that crash, police in another Allegheny County community had a similar incident on their hands involving another suspected drunk driver who tried to avoid arrest.
Around 12:30 a.m., a pickup truck flipped over along Curry Hollow Road in Baldwin. According to authorities, the driver jumped out of the vehicle and ran off.
Officials brought in police dogs and found the driver in a wooded area in South Park. The unidentified suspect was taken into custody.
