2 Rescued From Fiery Crash In Unity Township
UNITY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Fire officials say a bystander helped to pull two people to safety after an accident this morning along Route 30 in Unity Township, Westmoreland County.
Firefighters say the vehicle caught fire after the crash near the Mountainview Inn.
"We had one vehicle traveling down U.S. Route 30 - hydroplaned, left the roadway, struck a sign, spun, came to rest and caught fire with two individuals inside," said Chief Scot Graham, of the Marguerite Volunteer Fire Department.
"A bystander noticed the accident, stopped and pulled the driver to safety," he said. "The car was on fire. They had to pry the door out to get the patient out of the vehicle."
Officials say one person was taken to a nearby hospital.
According to the Marguerite Volunteer Fire Department, the vehicle's accelerator may have become stuck. One person reportedly suffered a broken leg.
