2 Men Sought After Stealing Cars In Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD (KDKA) - Car thieves got more than a joy ride this morning when they took two cars from a used car lot .

The used car parking lot at the corner of Fisk Street and Penn Avenue in Bloomfield had some illegal activity going on just before 1 a.m.

Two African-American men allegedly broke into the office and took the keys to a Dodge Caravan and a Chevrolet Uplander.

What the suspects didn't know is that the owner of the lot lives next door. Mustafa Kizilkaya could hear everything.

"The car was running, I can tell [how my cars run]. I had to get out of bed and down the steps. Cars were pulling out - two of them, one was already gone," Kizilkaya said.

The thieves broke into the office through the office window, took the keys to the cars, came out to the lot and took off. However, the owner chased one of them.

"I [caught] the car with a big stone in my hand, big stone. I smashed twice on driver's side glass," Kizilkaya said. "I try not to break, it is my glass. I said, 'Get out."

The driver kept going as Kizilkaya chased him for about three blocks.

"I ran in front of the car," Kizilkaya said. "I said, 'Get out of the car.' He started moving toward me. I think he was going to run over me."

Kizilkaya said he fell and the driver kept going. He was not hurt. Police found both vehicles about six blocks away on Denny Street.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Police are dusting the vehicles for fingerprints and Kizilkaya said he would recognize the driver he chased.
