2 Injured In Hill District Shooting
HILL DISTRICT (KDKA) – Police are investigating after two teenagers were injured in a Hill District shooting Saturday night.
According to police, gunfire rang out as a crowd of young people had gathered for a party in the 600-block of Perry Street just before midnight.
When police arrived at the scene, a 16-year-old boy was found lying on the sidewalk, with a gunshot wound to the chest.
A 19-year-old was wounded in the right leg and was located limping down the street.
Police at the Zone 2 Station said the young people involved in the party ranged in age from 16 to 22.
A burgundy colored car pulled up to a group which had gathered outside. The gunman, wearing a hooded-sweatshirt, allegedly got out of the vehicle and fired at least five rounds.
The suspect then jumped back into the car and the vehicle headed south on Perry Street.
Several teens who were getting ready to leave the party were out on the street at the time the shooting happened.
"All you heard was gunshots," said Ikeem Johnson who witnessed the shooting, "and everybody was yelling and screaming."
Johnson said people went running after that.
Another partygoer, Shasa Johnson said another female attending the party took off her hat and held it against the chest of one of the teens who was shot.
Police said they were looking for the vehicle, with letters K-F-L on the license plate. The gunman and a woman driving the car were both described as being African-American.
Both shooting victims were taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital. At last report, police said the 16-year old was listed in critical condition.
