One Dead In Forward Township Fire

FORWARD TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) – A fire tore through two Allegheny County homes on Tuesday evening, killing one person and closing Route 136.
Volunteer firefighters from about 10 different companies battled flames and freezing temperatures.
Flames destroyed a home on Morgan Run Road off Route 136 and damaged and adjacent house.
The body of an elderly homeowner who lived alone in the house lost his life in the blaze. His body was found in the burned out home.
Allegheny County Homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate, along with the fire marshal.
KDKA's Amy Wadas Reports:
Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
One suffered an asthma attack and was transported to an area hospital, the other sustained slight burns and was treated on the scene.
The fire occurred in the 100 block of Morgan Run Road in Forward Township.
The initial call came in at 5:33 p.m.
