Two people dead, one injured in early morning RV fire in Aliquippa
ALIQUIPPA, PA. (KDKA) - Two people were killed and a third person was injured when fire engulfed an RV in Aliquippa early on Tuesday morning, Aliquippa Fire Chief Tim Firich said.
The fire started just before 6 a.m. in the recreational vehicle parked along Sohn Road. Officials found the bodies of two people, identified by police as 54-year-old David Bosh and 28-year-old Jenny Bosh, while putting out the flames.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found heavy fire coming from the RV, Firich said.
"The fire had engulfed the recreational vehicle, very quickly," Firich said.
While putting out the flames, someone approached them.
"A bystander had come out from somewhere here on the scene, reporting that there was possibly two people missing that she believes were in the RV," Firich said.
It wasn't long before crews found two people inside, both dead.
EMS crews transported a third person, a woman, to a trauma center in Pittsburgh for burn and smoke inhalation injuries. It's unclear where she was when the fire happened.
Firich said a firefighter from an assisting crew also has a minor leg injury after slipping and falling in a hole.
"He was treated on scene, and then he's going to seek some further treatment," Firich said.
They got the fire under control in about 15 minutes, after having difficulty traveling to the scene on a treacherous, narrow road that was wet from the recent snow.
"My understanding is the city street department had just gone through here and plowed a little bit earlier and put some salt down, but just getting here was a little bit of problem," Firich said.
The vehicle is a total loss. All that's left is a shell.
The state fire marshal is investigating what started the fire.
