2 Arrested After North Side Robbery
NORTH SIDE (KDKA) – Two people were arrested after an early Tuesday morning robbery on the North Side.
According to police, the victim and a friend were walking through West Park around 12:30 a.m. when they were approached by two men.
One of suspects told the victim he needed change and when the victim said he didn't have any, the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and said "dig deeper."
Police said the suspect made off with about $90.
The victim and friend went to the Sunoco on Cedar Avenue and called police from a pay phone.
The victim told police the direction the men ran in. Police located the pair in an area known to homeless individuals.
However, as of 6 a.m. a gun had not been recovered.
Michael Wellons, 30, was charged with robbery and also had a bench warrant for his arrest.
The other man arrested has been identified as William Cloakey, who was charged only with giving a false identification to police.
