2 Area Fires Force Firefighters To Brave Cold Temperatures

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Firefighters endured another busy day of having to deal with flames and cold temperatures.

According to officials, one fire started around 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 3400-block of McWilliams Road in Murrysville, Westmoreland County.

The fire is believed to have started in the basement, but quickly spread to the living area of the home. The family was able to make it out without anyone being injured, but a salt truck was called in to help control the situation there because the water was quickly freezing to the road.

The other fire happened Tuesday afternoon in Connellsville Township, in Fayette County.

Firefighters were called out around 4 p.m. to the 100-block of Narrows Road.

Firefighters were at the scene for several hours putting out hot spots inside the decades old stone home.

Water being used to fight the fire also quickly froze to the road in front of the home.

However, there were no reported injuries in this fire as well.

The cause of both of the fires is unknown at this time and remains under investigation.
