Suspect Sought In Deadly Shooting In Penn Hills
PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- Police are looking for the person who opened fire outside a busy fast food restaurant in Penn Hills early last night, killing a local teenager.
Gunfire broke out around 5:30 p.m. outside the McDonald's parking lot along Frankstown Road.
Penn Hills Police Sergeant Patrick Manning said "multiple people [were] in line and inside the store" when at least 16 rounds struck the building.
One of the bullets struck Dalyn Jones, 18, in the chest.
Nadine Bolgert, who is also trained as a nurse, ran over to try to help Jones. She told KDKA-TV that he was responsive when she asked questions.
Jones was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital where he later died.
Police scoured the scene for clues and took a close look at some parked cars, but Sgt. Manning said no one was taken into custody.
There is a surveillance camera outside the McDonald's, but so far, no tape has been released.
Idella Hatcher, who works nearby, said, "It just hurts you... It's just sad."
Shaquala Berry, who went to school with Jones, wiped away tears Wednesday night and said she was saying prayers.
Jones graduated earlier this year from Penn Hills High School.
