14 Cats, 1 Dog Rescued From Hoarding Situation In Pitcairn
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Several cats and one dog are now being cared for at Animal Friends after humane investigators removed them from a hoarding situation in Pitcairn.
According to Animal Friends, the neglected animals were discovered when humane officers served a search warrant at the home on Wednesday.
The 14 cats are now being treated for several ailments, including upper respiratory infections, fleas and ringworm. Also, three of them may be pregnant.
"This falls under animal cruelty as a neglect situation," said Animal Friends Humane Officer Robert Fredley. "So, we do not have any information nor evidence of abuse, but this does fall under neglect."
Once the animals have gone through treatment, other medical checks and then have been spayed or neutered, they'll be put up for adoption.
Citations have been issued for the people who were originally caring of the animals.
