Teenager Shot Twice In McKeesport, Suspects Sought
MCKEESPORT (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a shooting Monday evening in McKeesport.
It's the latest gun violence to plague the city, in both fatal and non-fatal incidents.
Police got a call about 7:45 p.m. about a shooting in the 1800 block of Jenny Lind Street.
The 15-year-old male said he was walking when he saw a red car come up the street and people inside started to shoot.
Sources say the teen was shot in the arm and head. The head wound was more of a grazing injury, and the teen managed to run to a nearby home for help.
Christine D'Antonio's Report:
Police collected a number of shell casings at the scene, but they have not released a description of the gunman, or the victim's condition.
Mae Hudson has lived on Jenny Lind Street her entire life. She's frustrated by the violence that's taken over in recent years.
Monday's shooting sparked specific pain for her because it's so close to the 4-year anniversary of her son's murder down the street.
"I'm hurting and every time I hear this going on, it's real deeply painful," Hudson said.
Hudson said cleaning up the neighborhood and the senseless crime that goes along with it is necessary.
"We need a village, we need the police, we need the families, we need the constables," she said.
Just last week, two young men were shot and wounded on Hartman Street in McKeesport.
McKeesport has recorded nine homicides so far this year.
