1 person dead after overnight shooting in New Kensington
NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) — One person is dead following a shooting in New Kensington.
At around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, shots were heard at the Kensington Arms Apartments in New Kensington. Donna Horst, who lives in the building, says she heard the shots.
"I can't say it was boom, boom, boom," Horst said. "But it was a straight, long boom. And then it quit. And then it started again just a little bit. And then the next thing I hear was, 'Run, run, run.'"
Once police were at the scene, they found 31-year-old New Kensington resident James Michael Hayes dead in the parking lot.
Bullets from the shooting hit not only the victim but a nearby office and several parked cars. One of those cars was purchased Friday by apartment resident Morgan Brown.
"It's going to be taken in as evidence, and I've put in a claim," Brown said. "I'll be getting in contact with Carvana to see how to proceed from here."
Police are investigating. It is not clear if there are any suspects or arrests.
