1 Man Killed In White Oak Accident
WHITE OAK (KDKA) - One person was killed in an accident in White Oak Wednesday morning.
According to officials, the accident happened on Muse Lane, near Angora Gardens.
"We had a one-vehicle accident. We had a vehicle that was traveling southbound on Muse Lane, came from Carpenter Lane in the North Huntingdon area. Apparently, the vehicle left the roadway, went over an embankment, struck numerous trees, the vehicle split in half. The driver of the vehicle was deceased," White Oak Police Chief Louis Bender said.
Authorities closed the two-lane road between Nicole Drive and Deaton Lane for several hours.
"We have had some accidents on that road, but normally they are due to speed, excessive speed that if people go the speed limit, we don't normally have accidents on that road," Chief Bender said.
While the scene was not far from a residential housing plan, the road is flanked by dense trees on both sides of the road. Police say weather had nothing to do with the one-car crash.
"It appears speed was a factor. We have the Allegheny County Homicide Unit on it, re-constructing the accident," Chief Bender said.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Benjamin Bergel, 23, of White Oak.
