SLIPPERY ROCK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A 21-year-old man was killed when an SUV collided with a tractor trailer overnight in Butler County.
State police say the crash happened just after 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Route 8 and Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.
They have identified the person killed as John Stufflebeam, 21, of Warren, Pa.
According to state police, the Ford Escape SUV, which was carrying six people, was headed west on Branchton Road when it crashed into the side of the flat-bed trailer at the intersection of Route 8.
The impact of the crash caused the SUV to spin around, officials said. The rear of the vehicle then struck the tractor trailer, ejecting Stufflebeam through the rear window.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Butler County Deputy Coroner.
The driver of the SUV, identified by state police as 20-year-old Hollie Carlson, of Markleton, Pa., was taken to Grove City Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
