1 Injured In Violent Beltzhoover Home Invasion
BELTZHOOVER (KDKA) –One person was taken to the hospital following a violent home invasion in Beltzhoover Tuesday morning.
According to police, the incident happened at a home on Industry Street between Taft Avenue and Laverne Street.
Police were initially called to the intersection of Taft Avenue and Climax Street for a report of shots fired around 2:23 a.m.
"At that point, our officers responded and they came across a car that was racing away from the scene," Pittsburgh Police Spokesperson Sonya Toler said.
Police chased the car to UPMC Mercy Hospital until they realized the people inside were not suspects.
"911 informed us that the car contained one of the victims who had been shot and another person that was in the house," Toler said.
A 22-year-old man was shot in the upper-leg and was last listed in critical condition.
Four armed African-American males broke into the home through the front door. At that time, a struggle between the suspects and residents took place with shots being exchanged.
Two of the suspects fled the scene through the front door, while the other two went out the back.
"Because of all the activity after the four individuals broke in, we don't have a good description of them, but we do know they are four black males dressed in all black and they were armed," Toler said.
Officers recovered three guns at the scene, including an AK-47. A fourth gun was found in a nearby yard.
An older woman and three males were home at the time of the incident.
If you have any information or know the whereabouts of those suspects, you're being asked to call Pittsburgh Police.
