1 Dead After Garfield Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man was killed Sunday after he was shot by his friend who says it was an accident.
It happened in the 5100-block of Columbo Street in Garfield.
Police say the first thing the shooter told them was, "I accidentally shot my friend." When they arrived on scene, they found a 25-year-old Andre Broadie dead inside the house.
"Allegedly he came to the front door," Pittsburgh Police Sgt. Tom Huerbin said. "I am not sure if it was mistaken identity or what, but he went upstairs and retrieved a weapon but he came downstairs and encountered a person."
Police say there were three small children upstairs when the shooting took place. A woman who was at the home at the time told police she was familiar with the victim, but they weren't described as friends. The shooter told police he also knew the victim.
Police won't say until Monday whether any charges will be filed in the case.
Possibilities include a home invasion or a tragic accident.
Stay with KDKA for more information.
