Castle Shannon Home Invasion Suspect Caught

CASTLE SHANNON (KDKA) - One person was injured in an early Tuesday morning home invasion in Castle Shannon.

According to police, the incident happened in the 700-block of Cooke Drive around 1:20 a.m.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a 34-year-old male bleeding from the head and hand.

Two friends of the victim were leaving the apartment, when they were confronted at the door by a white male with two handguns.

The suspect forced the three men back into the apartment and demanded money. At some point, the suspect struck the victim with one of the guns.

A nearby resident heard what was going on, called 911 and yelled to the suspect that police were on the way. The suspect fled the scene at that time.

The suspect has been identified as Jonathan Donald Maccowan. Tuesday evening, however, police say they had located Maccowan.

Maccowan is facing a list of charges including aggravated assault, burglary, robbery and recklessly endangering another person.

The injured man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police believe that a previous history between all four people involved led to this incident.

"This is not a random act and we believe the actor knew at least some of the individuals in this apartment," Castle Shannon Police Chief Ken Truver said.

Neighbors said this isn't the first time this type of incident has happened in the same apartment.

Anyone with information is asked to call Castle Shannon Police, Allegheny County Police or 911.
