1 Dead In Beaver Co. Tractor Accident
BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- An elderly Beaver County man died this afternoon when the tractor he was riding crashed over a hillside.
The accident happened while the man was cutting the grass just before 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Chapel Road and Grange Road in Brighton Township.
According to neighbors, the man could often be seen mowing his lawn on his Oliver Farm tractor.
But while riding it today, the tractor went over a hill.
"We got the call at 3:20. It was a passerby that saw the tractor; we got the call from the 911 center," said Sgt. Peter Benedict, of the Brighton Township Police Department. "We arrived on scene, saw that the individual was cutting the grass, misjudged the bend and went over the hill."
The Beaver County Coroner's Office has not yet identified the man, but neighbors say he was in his early 80s.
