1 Dead In Armstrong County Accident
SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - An overnight crash in Armstrong County sent a car down an embankment causing it to roll over, claiming the life of a 50-year-old man.
State police have identified the victim of the crash as Randel Stewart, of Cowansville, Pa.
According to authorities, Stewart was headed south on state Route 268 in Sugarcreek Township in his Ford Focus overnight when he failed to negotiate a curve.
Officials say the vehicle struck a traffic sign, then a guide rail with its undercarriage and traveled down an embankment before it rolled over several times.
The Armstrong County Coroner's Office reports that Stewart was ejected from the vehicle and found by a passerby around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene by the Armstrong County Coroner.
The investigation continues to determine the time of the accident.
